Honda continues to expand its patent portfolio in India, this time securing the design rights for the NPF125 scooter. This comes shortly after the company patented the CB190TR neo-retro motorcycle in the country. Interestingly, the NPF125 bears a strong resemblance to Honda’s popular Activa 125, a model already available in India.

Performance & Engine Specs

The NPF125 shares its heart with the Activa 125, featuring the same 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. However, there’s a slight power difference—while the Activa 125 delivers 8.3hp, the NPF125 is tuned to 9.5hp. When it comes to torque, the Activa holds a slight edge with 10.5Nm, compared to 10Nm on the NPF125. This variation is likely due to India’s stricter emission norms and different market-specific tuning.

Mechanical Similarities & Differences

Both scooters share many components, including:

  • Suspension: Telescopic front fork & monoshock rear setup
  • Brakes: Disc/drum brake combination
  • Wheels: 12-inch front, 10-inch rear

However, the NPF125 has an advantage over the Activa 125—it comes with front ABS, enhancing safety.

Design & Features

Where the Activa 125 sports a more traditional look, the NPF125 boasts a sharper, sportier design. But that’s not all—it’s also packed with modern features, including:

  • LED Headlights for better visibility
  • Keyless Ignition for added convenience
  • LCD Display for essential ride information
  • Front Storage Compartments & USB Charger for practicality

Will Honda Launch the NPF125 in India?

Honda has been patenting multiple models from its global lineup in India, which sparks speculation about future launches. Given the NPF125’s similarities with the Activa 125, there’s a possibility that Honda could introduce it to the Indian market in the future. If launched, it could offer buyers a feature-rich, sportier alternative to the Activa 125.
