After making waves in European rallying, MRF Tyres is taking another major step by becoming an official tyre supplier for the British Rally Championship (BRC). With a strong reputation for high-performance rally tyres, the brand is now set to compete in one of the most prestigious rally events globally.
The 2025 BRC season kicks off on February 23 with the East Riding Stages, where James Williams and Max McRae will put MRF tyres through their paces. Williams will be driving a Hyundai i20 N, while McRae will take on the competition in a Citroen C3 Rally2.
This move highlights MRF’s expanding presence in motorsport and its drive to compete at the highest levels.
MRF's Rallying Achievements and Global Expansion
MRF has built a strong reputation in rallying by competing in some of the world’s most challenging championships. The Indian tyre manufacturer has:
✔️ Claimed back-to-back European Rally Championship titles (2022 & 2023)
✔️ Dominated the Italian Gravel Rally Championship for four consecutive years (2021-2024)
Now, MRF will supply asphalt and gravel tyres across all British Rally Championship categories, further cementing its position in the global motorsport scene.
Arun Mammen, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of MRF, expressed his enthusiasm about this expansion:
"We are proud to represent India in global motorsport. The British Rally Championship is one of the most competitive rally series, and being part of it underscores the quality of our products. We hope to inspire motorsport enthusiasts and showcase the capabilities of MRF tyres at the highest level."
He also highlighted the brand’s commitment to innovation:
"Our engineers have collaborated with rally specialists to develop tyres that offer outstanding grip, durability, and performance under extreme conditions. We are confident that our tyres will provide drivers with the reliability needed to succeed in the 2025 BRC season."
Meet the MRF-Supported British Rally Championship Drivers
James Williams – A Rising Talent in British Rallying
Welsh rally driver James Williams is one of the most promising names in the British rally circuit. In 2024, he showcased his skills by securing victories at the Rally Isle of Man and putting on an impressive performance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed Forest Rally Stage. Driving the Hyundai i20 N, he is expected to be a strong competitor this season.
Max McRae – Carrying Forward a Legendary Legacy
At just 20 years old, Max McRae is preparing for his first full season in the British Rally Championship. In 2024, he competed in four rounds, but for 2025, he is set to tackle all six rounds in a Citroen C3 Rally2.
Coming from a well-known motorsport family, Max is the nephew of the late Colin McRae, the British rally legend and former World Rally Champion.
Although switching from a Ford Fiesta Rally2 to the Citroen C3, McRae remains confident in his team, Tagai Racing Technology (TRT), whom he previously worked with in the Junior European Rally Championship.
"Adjusting to a new car is always a challenge, but having a familiar team makes a big difference. I’ve worked with TRT before, and I have complete trust in their expertise. They are an incredible team, and I know they'll support me every step of the way," said McRae.
Recently, he tested the Citroen for the first time in Hungary, where he also had his first experience with MRF tyres.
"The conditions were tricky, but I was really impressed with the way the MRF tyres handled. They provided excellent grip and responsiveness, which is crucial in rallying. I’m looking forward to seeing how they perform in the BRC season," he added.
